Unemployment Economic Stimulus Package In Detail

In 2008, the Bush Administration included, in one of its economic stimulus packages, a 20-week extension of unemployment benefits.

In 2009, the Obama Administration extended unemployment benefits by another 13 weeks to people who lived in states with unemployment rates that exceeded an average of 6% over a three-month period.

In addition, in 2009, the first $2,400 in income from unemployment benefits is tax-free.
